The official coronation and presentation of staff of the office of the Eleta Oluyara of Iyara Land, Ijumu local government of Kogi state, will be held on Saturday, December 23.

This was made known in a statement jointly signed by the chairman central planning committee of the coronation ceremony, Mr Olukayode Dare, and the Media and Publicity Sub Committee Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Oluwakorede.

According to the statement, eminent and distinguished, guests expected at the occasion include the Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, his Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Barrister Salami Ozigi Deedat.

Chairman Okun Traditional Council of Chiefs and Obaro of Kabba, HRM Oba Solomon Owoniyi, the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, HRM Oba Olusegun Williams Ayeni will lead other revered traditional rulers from within and outside the state to the epoch-making event.

Other guests are expected at the occasion as well as sons and daughters of the Iyara community, both within and in the diaspora.

Various cultural dancers are expected to perform during the occasion including the beautiful Ato masquerade, Egunre, and the beautiful maiden dance the oro-omo-du- don . and the Owo-based Ramat Akanni Cultural troupe will perform at the occasion.

Citation of HRH Oba (Engr) Jacob B. Meduteni (ESEIN MABO)

HRH. Oba (Engr.) Jacob B. Meduteni, Abomila the 13th, and Eleta Oluyara of lyara the 3rd were born on 24-10-1950 into the family of Late Pa. Shem O. Meduteni and Late Dorcas O. Meduteni of Idie-hi-Otun-lyara, Ijumu LGA in the Present Kogi State.

Moved by his enthusiasm for Western education, he began his primary education at Saint Paul’s Primary School between 1957 and 1959, went to Saint Peters Primary School, Ikuehi 1960-1961, and returned to his first alma mater Saint Paul’s Primary School Iyara where he completed his first school leaving certificate in 1963.

Young handsome and dogged Oba Meduteni proceeded to Saint Barnabas Secondary School Kabba between 1964 and 1968 for his Secondary Education.

Not giving up his quest for a sound education, he went to Nigeria Civil Aviation Training Centre Zaria where he was trained in aeronautic Radio from 1970-1971.

He proceeded to The Polytechnic Ibadan where he studied Electrical Engineering at National and Higher National Diploma levels between 1972 and 1976.

Between 1993-1994, Oba Meduteni obtained his Post Graduate Degree in Management Studies where he came out with flying colors at the University of Calabar.

In 1995, he came back to the same University for his MBA in Marketing which he graduated successfully in 1996.

During his service years, Oba Jacob Meduteni attended several courses and trainings and courses both locally and internationally including; Introduction to Management by Management Associate, Lagos, Project Planning and Control, Maintenance of Equipment and Infrastructure by NSE Lagos, Privatization and Commercialization of NEPA by (T&A Ltd.), Causes and Prevention of Transformer failure by NSE Lagos, Learning to be Commercial by ACCENTURE, Learning to be Commercial plus Project Implementation By ACCENTURE and Swift First Step Program in Computer Literacy by NIIT Kaduna.

After he retired from active service, Oba Meduteni was not tired as he floated his businesses as Chief Executive Officer, of Newday Engineering Company, Kaduna, and Chief Executive Director of Nowday Farms, Ogidi-Origa, Ijumu.

Oba Meduteni has served meritoriously in Community Development Associations as Former President of the Iyara Development Movement, where he served for 6 years (2 terms).

Following the vacant stool of the Eleta Oluyara of Iyara, the Kogi State Government appointed Oba Jacob Meduteni as the Eleta Oluyara of Iyara on July 24th, 2023 as 3rd Class Chief, and the stool was upgraded to 2nd Class status on September 26th, 2023 by Kogi State Executive Council.

His Hobbies are: Reading newspapers, Playing word games, Walking short distances and
Poultry and Fish Farming.

He is married to Olori Queen B. Meduteni and blessed with children
