It is an honour to celebrate millions of hardworking Nigerians, a day to recognize workers who are awarding time, putting their lives and energy to work for the best. It is also a day when workers in various countries around the globe celebrate the strides that have been made towards greater parity in the workplace and fair service practices.
I want to especially appreciate those businesses that encourage a safe and healthy work environment where it is a pleasure to work, who are willing to train and invest in their personnel, who understand that employees are assets to various establishments, who treat employees and staffs fairly and see them as Individuals with differing abilities.
This year’s workers day comes at a time when the entire world is fighting Corornavirus pandemic, millions of healthcare professionals are fighting at the Covid19 Frontline to save lives. Security officers are also working to ensure all government orders on the lockdown are strictly adhered to. There could be no better day than the international Labour day to thank these people who make our lives easier at a time when the world is fighting against the novel Coronavirus.
I want to exhort you all to sincerely nurture the spirit of volunteerism and service, also to work towards social and economic advancement in all sectors, by playing an active part in advancement initiatives. Now is the time to do more for communities and our dear country. So that we can make a better place through Labour.
Although, all workouts are shut down for now, whatever workers can do from home to see that things take good form and configuration should be adequately done within this period of staying and working from home.
Hon. Leke Abejide celebrates those who uphold the dignity of Labour, with all their capacity and strength. While admitting the sincere rewards we have achieved through workers via hard labour and commitment. Let us continue to work in Unity to attain a formidable refinement.
More also, there is prestige in all types of decent work, paid or unpaid. Let us all give our best through unity and dignity to improve labour for social and economic advancement as the theme of the year 2020 workers day.
Let us all join the health workers to fight the common enemy of our economy. In no distant time, we will overcome, as we believe the economy will rebound and things will restore to normalcy.
Happy workers day!
