Blockbuster Final: Ankpa, Ijumu battle for Glory this Weekend in Kogi Unity Cup
Ankpa Local Government football team will play Ijumu Local Government football team in the final of the Kogi Unity Cup on Saturday.
Ankpa LGA booked the maiden’s final ticket after their opponent from the Kogi Central, Ajaokuta LGA failed to show up in the first semi final slated for Dekina Football Pitch on Thursday, thereby being walked-over.
In the other semi final, Ijumu LGA defeated Koton Karfe 3-2 to qualify for the last two in all Kogi West derby that was played at the St. Barnabas Football Pitch, Kabba on Thursday.
The final is expected to be played on Saturday, January 13 in the state’s capital Lokoja.
In this same vein, the loser’s final will see Ajaokuta LGA trade tackle with Koton Karfe for a third place belt in Lokoja on Saturday.
The Kogi Unity Cup which is being sponsored by Otunba Olayinka Braimoh will reward the first, second and third placed teams with cash prizes and other awards.
The tournament which has participating teams representing each local government area within Kogi East, Kogi Central, and Kogi West is aimed at fostering unity, sportsmanship, and community engagement.
