Kogi Speaker, Members Visit Youngest Permanent Board Member Abraham Jacob, Hails Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello For Youth Inclusiveness

The Speaker of Kogi State Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon Ibikunle Olajide, led delegation of the Parliamentarians to pay a courtesy visit to Hon. Abraham Damilare, a permanent board member of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, KGSHIA, at his office yesterday.

The Speaker who rolled out reasons for the visit, said the visit has been long overdue and this meeting gives him the floor to say that the Board Member who is one among their constituents, is truly a good ambassador of the youth constituency in the state. He stated that Hon. Abraham Jacob has within his one year in office as a permanent board member, proven beyond doubt that Kogi Youths can indeed be trusted with roles to play in governance and policy making.

According to the speaker, “I want to on behalf of members of the 21 Constituencies in the Kogi Youth Parliament, commend greatly, the eagle eyes of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State for finding one of our own for such an appointment that is usually believed to be for heavy political big names in the days of previous government before his reign.”

Speaking further, Rt. Hon. Olajide noted that the Board Member is one who whose activeness has given them justification to seek for more involvement of Youth in governance in the next administration. He maintained that Hon. Abraham has not disappointed the Youth Constituency but is only serving as a positive ambassador for Youths in the state.

“Recall that some months ago, Hon. Abraham received a letter of commendation from the secretary to the Government of Kogi State for his ability to creating broad sensitisation about the activities of his agency to the public”.

I want to on behalf of Kogi Youth Parliament, commend and further appreciate His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello for finding Youths worthy to be included in the New Direction Administration. Describing Governor Yahaya Bello as “The Youth Friendly Governor “ is not out of place. The speaker noted.

Appreciating the visit of the Parliamentarians, Abraham Jacob, expressed joy for a visit he described as a great honour and privilege to host. He said this visit is possible today because His Excellency has found him worthy to occupy this office and this he said is a rare privilege he does not take for granted.

According to him, as a youth working with Governor Yahaya Bello, I can only but put in my very best in serving best Governor. A Governor who gives no room for excuses, a Governor who is always up and doing, a Governor who does not take the matters of health, education, agric, security, infrastructure, youths and women inclusiveness for granted. A Governor whose strength and passion for work is yet to be matched.

I remain conscious of the fact that i represent the youth constituency in the administration of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello and this consciousness leaves me to always do all that will protect the image of Kogi Youth both In office and outside office. Hence, I have no reason whatsoever to disappoint my constituency. Hon. Abraham noted.

He briefed the parliamentarians about the health packages of his agency for youths and students and assured them of always having his door open to receiving Kogi Youths for updates that concerns his office and them.

He further urged the parliament to stay focus in the pursuit of their aims and goals as a body. Stressing that at this point, each parliamentarian represents a constituency, hence, no one should belittle their humble beginning. He encouraged them to carry out projects, seek for partnership and supports from individuals, groups and even NGOs. This according to him, will further making them access every needed means to succeed in office. He also never forgot to charge parliamentarians on the need for them to meet with Members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, The Nine House Of Rep’s Representative in the state and the three senators representing the three senatorial districts in the state.

Finally, enjoined the Parliament to show unwavering support to the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello and further see reasons why they should endorse the candidacy of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress In Kogi State ahead of the November 11 gubernatorial election.
