The provost, Dr.(Mrs). V. O Jagboro in her opening address welcome the leadership of the union to the college and also appreciate them for deeming it fit to pay her visit, she further stressed by commending the executives for the projects they’ve been embarking on so far. She further advised that the good work should continue and ensure that the students leaders reach out to more prominent people in the community.

The Students’ Union President, Comr. Samuel Oluwabusayomi Felix in his speech, firstly thank the provost for the warm reception and also commend her as well for the rapid development that has been going on in the institution.

The president, swiftly moved to the subject matter by appreciating the governor, H.E, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in absentia for deeming it fit to approve the bill for the creation of a university in Okun land which the land has been long due for. He further stressed that he’ll want to implore the governor to situate the university in Kabba community, stating some valid reasons.

  1. Kabba is at the center of the state and Okun land: it’s well known within the state and Okun communities that Kabba is located at the heartbeat of Okun land and Kogi state. Also it’s very much popular than other neighbouring communities even beyond the state, which will make publicity and making awareness of the university more faster and easier.
  2. Availability of already made facilities (KSCOE(T)K) to have a standard university: it’s very pertinent we know that we can’t afford to have a substandard university in Okun land as we all know how much will be needed to start up a university on a fallowed ground that had no structure on it before. It’s with this the president made a proposal for the upgrade of Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Kabba into a State University of Education and Technology as the college already has working structures ranging from the administrative sector to conducive learning classrooms to multimillion naira auditorium, just to mention in few.
With what been listed above, it will cost less and be more economical to start up a university in Okun land at the college than situating the university on a fallowed land without any working structures.
  3. The college has a working degree program already which will serve as a great catalyst for the newly created university.

The provost appreciated the students’ union president for his brilliant contributions and good wishes for Owe and Okun land at large. The provost buttressed that she herself has been making moves and working on that as well in which she provided some documents to show as a proof to that effect.

Other things that was discussed with the provost is the establishment of Kabba Students’ Union (KSU), KSCOE(T) Local chapter, in which the provost was happy to hear and she commented that the college is long due for that indeed.

The provost urged the union leaders to see how they can work together with the college to achieve this great feat for the glory of Okun land. A photo section took place and the General secretary of the union, Comr. Ajiboye Rhoda who was in the meeting appreciated the provost for her time and motherly advice.
