*Ramadan: MAAI urges Muslims on piety, saying there is an urgent need to seek God’s face over coronavirus*
The Kogi state commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic planning who doubles as the leader of APC in Yagba land, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris urges Muslim faithfuls to imbibe the virtue of piety and pray for God’s intervention over the ravaging coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, despite the concerted efforts by the federal and state governments to stem the disease outbreak.
I heartily felicitate with Muslim faithfuls on the commencement of the Holy month of Ramadan.
Observance of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and it is a special period for seeking the face of Allah through fasting and prayers.
Asiwaju in his message released through the media aide, said the sacred month of Ramadan is a period for Muslims in the state and across the country to draw closer to God and pray vehemently, stressing on the need for them to make critical behavioural changes during this year’s fast in the face of COVID-19 challenge.
According to him, “As Muslim faithful in the state and across the world commence the Ramadan, I urge them to uphold the hallmarks of the period, which include commitment to faith, family and community.
“The period is a time of reflection, dedication and show of exemplary virtues in accordance to Allah’s ordinance. As you observe this sacred devotion, remember to pray for peace, unity and progress of Okun land, kogi state and Nigeria as a whole. Asiwaju notes
“I also urge Muslim faithfuls to pray for the number one citizen of the state; Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, leaders at helms of affairs and progress of the state, even as we ramp up efforts to halt the spread of coronavirus. We should also ask that Almighty Allah continue to direct and guide those in positions of authority so they will continue to do his will.
I wish all Happy Ramadan. May Almighty Allah accept our sacrifice of self denials and answer our supplication and prayers.
