Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA
31st August 2020
The Honourable commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic planning and a star actor in the new government as led by His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza and his co-pilot, His Excellency, Deputy Governor Edward David Onoja, has hailed the GYB/CEDO and APC Supreme Court victory which affirmed the November 16th Kogi state gubernatorial election result, saying it’s a victory for democracy, rule of law and the good people of kogi state.
Asiwaju, in his congratulatory message, said the resounding victory that handed the second term mandate to GYB/ CEDO to take Kogi state to a greater height was free will of the people and a unanimous decision to continue with the progressive party, APC. In records and annals of the confluence state, the margin of victory between APC and the closest rival PDP is novel and unprecedented, which goes to tell about the resolve of the electorates never to go back to Egypt- Era of maladministration and misgovernance.
Mukadam confidently opined that this judgement is a victory for entrenchment of democracy, rule of law and the continous good of kogites; it’s a symbolic judgement in our electoral jurispudence which validate the fact that the court is the final arbiter for fair hearing and dispassionate dispensation of justice. The learned jurist made it abundantly clear that the court is not a charity home nor father Christmas to give judgement based on hearsay or unsubstantiated points, hence the appeals of the Wada/Aro of PDP and Natasha of SDP was utterly dismissed for lacking merit, Asiwaju stated.
MAAI notes that the tortoise journey of electoral litigation is now over and laid to rest by the Supreme Court- final court of the land, saying it’s most appropriate for the opposition candidates of APC,SDP and DPP, whose ambition albinitio was driven by the desire to see a better and greater Kogi state to join hands with His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello in his determined quest to change the narrative of the confluence state. In his words “This is the time to see ourselves more as kogites, beyond party affliation, tribal affinity and religious differences, to face the hydra headed challenges be bedeviling the state and dragging back our wheel of progress. God giveth power to whomsoever he so wishes, what’s left of us, is to give maximum support.”
He once again congratulates Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, Deputy Governor, Chief Edward David Onoja, Progressives members and the wonderful people of kogi state for these resounding victory, which invariably, will further strengthen the party structure, swells the progressive rank and most especially, provides opportunity to improve on the new direction government reforms, policies and plans for a greater Kogi state.
Asiwaju said it’s a well deserved victory which was conspicuously clear with the massive chunk of votes by the electorates for APC and GYB/ CEDO at the November 16th election. Today, the highest court in the land has affirmed the process as free, fair and credible.
