7th July, 2021
It was for some minutes,  an uneasy movement of motorists and other road users today at Ganaja Junction as a result of the arrival of the entourage of some Kogi State Students who accompanied the leading National Presidential aspirant, National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS National) Comrade Jacob Abraham Damilare   and his campaign team to pay an unscheduled visit to the contractors handling the ongoing construction of Ganaja Flyover Bridge awarded by the Governor Yahaya Bello’s led administration of Kogi State Government at the construction site and to also make presentation of safety jackets, bottle water and nose masks.
Addressing the resident Engineer, Engr. Akubo, Comr. Abraham Jacob said some of the reasons for their visit is  to encourage the contractors and show them solidarity by giving the very little they can afford as students to boost their morales as construction is ongoing which according to him will go a long way in increasing the speed of work in progress by the contractors and to also commend governor Yahaya Bello for the approval of this project alongside other ongoing road projects in the state which include the Kabba township road, Okene township road among others.
He noted that the  importance of the Ganaja flyover bridge to students who are into transport business can not be overemphasized, stressing that the bridge upon completion will not just beautify Ganaja junction, but will also halt the steady gridlock that visits the location on daily occasion as well as reduce rate of accidents.
Abraham tasked TEC Construction Company not to compromise quality of project delivering to the people of the State, pointing that a quality Flyover Bridge will last the test of time and will generally serve its purpose.
He praised the government through the Ministry of Works and Housing; a supervisory Ministry on the project. He noted that Engr. Abubakar Ohere the Commissioner in charge of the ministry is seriously doing justice in ensuring that work is always in progress at sites across the state and that quality of projects is never compromised.
Strong emphasis was made on the commitment of Governor Yahaya Bello in the delivery of infrastructural projects in the state, while mentioning the speed of light ongoing construction of a world class reference hospital in Okene other hospital projects in Gegu, Ajaokuta and Yagba East not excluding the newly established Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.
Also speaking, the Campaign Director General of the Abraham Team, Comr. Samuel Omale alias Aluta Stainless, said the leadership of Abraham Jacob upon emergence as National President of Kogi State Students will as a matter of emphasis join hands to complement the good works of the State Government. He said it takes only a student leader who is popular and generally accepted by the students to pull such a multitude of students to gather here today in solidarity with the efforts of the Yahaya Bello’s administration and with the constructors.
Presenting the items to the resident Engineer, Abraham said even as students, they are happy to make this little donation of facemasks, bottle waters and  Safety Jackets to the contractors and Members of the Police Force within the construction site.
Receiving and responding to the donation, Engr. Akubo appreciates the initiative of Team Abraham Jacob for thinking outside the box to do the unusual, stating that this is one of its kind gesture from the students community that must be encouraged at all times.
He said it is no longer news that Governor Yahaya Bello has declared a state of emergency in infrastructural developments in the state and the Ganaja Junction Flyover bridge is one of the many projects of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration which according to him amongst many other projects will be delivered to completion by the month of December 2021 for according to him, this is the deadline His Excellency has charged the TEC Construction Company being the contractor in charge of the bridge construction to meet up with.
Engr. Akubo while praying for the aspiration of Abraham Jacob to come into fruition, also appealed that when he emerges Victorious at the poll, he should not stop activating this kind of a rare good spirit amongst the students community, emphasizing that no government, groups or individual will want to associating with such an innovative set of students leadership in the state.
Also, the State information Officer Works and Housing Ministry, Mr. Abah Benjamin Eneojo on behalf of the Commissioner for Works and Housing, applauded the initiative of the students community and further charged them to continue in this light.
