says allowing unregistered and illegal schools operate amounts to mortgaging the future of our children,
Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones says allowing unregistered schools to operate in the State would amount to mortgaging the future of the children, assured that all unregistered schools in the State will be shut down at the resumption of the 2021/2022 academic session 
The Education Commissioner made the disclosure while fielding questions from newsmen during the Monitoring and Inspection of the Basic Education subsector of the State by the National Media Team of the All Progressives Congress, said unregistered schools will be shut down effective September.
Hon. Jones equally disclosed that schools that are having the required facilities and decent environment but are not registered would be given three years to register by the Ministry of Education, after which they will be shut down if the fail to meet the conditions give to them for registration.
The Commissioner urged both the registered and unregistered schools to come to the Ministry to authenticate their papers following which an inspection would be conducted to the schools by the Ministry.
While pointing out that the State Government is passionate about shutting down unregistered schools, says it will not fold its hands and watch substandard schools operating in the State mortgage the future of the children.
The Commissioner maintained that the State Government would not allow people run their business at the detriment of the future Leaders, urged operators of unregistered and illegal schools to cease the window of opportunity to register their schools before the commencement of the new academic session.
