Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael With Comdr Jerry Omodara rtd Led Kogi State Govt Delegation, Security Agencies On Inspection To Find A Suitable Location For A Forward Operating Base (FOB) Along Iluke, Offere Kiri, Ike Bunu Axis
The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael in company with the Kogi State Security Adviser, Comdr Jerry Omodara rtd and all security agencies on an inspection to locate a suitable site for Forward Operating Base (FOB) along Iluke, Offere Kiri, Ike Bunu border, promises to secure all entry-exit borders to Kabba/Bunu LGA State.
The approval for the Forward Operating Base (FOB) by the Chief of Army Staff through the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is to tackle insecurity, especially cases of kidnapping along the Iluke/Offere Kiri/Suku/Akutupa Kiri/Ike Bunu road of the local government.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Omofa John quoted the chairman as promising to secure all entry and exit points into the local government area.
The chairman, while inspecting the communities in that axis, said that the base is a pilot project and that the intention of the government is to secure all entry and exit points to Bunu District.
The statement added that the Forward Operating Base has a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) and cameras that are being monitored from the state’s control room.
It stated that activities going on in the area can be monitored by security agencies and that they would be alerted to deal with the situation appropriately.
Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael said: “This particular place has really been in the news for kidnapping, people coming across the border to perpetrate evil.
“This is a pilot project and we want to secure all the entry and exit points to Bunu land. This is the border with Niger and Kwara States.
The chairman added that all the security agencies in the local government are working round the clock to ensure that the people of Kabba/Bunu LGA are safe and secure, stating that the government has been providing logistic support for the security agencies to work effectively in the local government area.
“I have the State Security Adviser here; the DSS is also here, Nigeria Police is here and they are all working round the clock to ensure that the people of Kabba/Bunu LGA are safe and secure. We only need to encourage our youths and community heads on self defence and that is why I have come here personally to let them know that we are all together,” the chairman said.
He assured that the local government will continue to protect the lives and properties of the citizens as well as the commuters that ply the road, saying: “To the commuters, all of these efforts are to ensure that they are able to go about their businesses without thinking about insecurity.”
The inspection was witnessed by the representatives of the traditional rulers of Iluke Bunu and Offere Kiri respectfully.
