ICAN GOSPEL TALENT HUNT KOGI 2025: TOMMY PRESTIGE EMERGES WINNER

Lokoja, Kogi State – March 1, 2025

This year’s edition of the ICAN Gospel Talent Hunt Kogi came to a close yesterday at the Destiny Way Ministries (DMI) Lokoja Auditorium, with Eritomiwa Joshua (Tommy Prestige), a talented dancer and a 200-level student of the Department of Theatre Arts, Kogi State University Kabba, emerging as the winner.

The competition, organized by the ICAN GTHK, aimed to discover and promote gospel talents in the state. The event featured a series of performances, including music, dance, drama, and spoken word.

Eritomiwa, a creative and dynamic dancer impressed the judges and audience with his electrifying fire dancing skills, which he used to minister and glorify God. His performance was a perfect blend of artistry, spirituality, and showmanship. All his performances and appearances at every stage of the contest left the judges and audience on the edge of their seats as they were caught aback by his sterling concepts.

Reacting, Eritomiwa out of mixed emotions said he was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for winning the competition. “I thank God, my parents, particularly my mom for her prayers, the Kogi State University Kabba community, most especially our amiable Vice Chancellor, Prof. KIT Eniola for his tireless support, and indeed, my mentor, artistic manager, and creative director, Dr. Stephen Adewumi of the Department of Theatre Arts, and the entire Thespians of the department, also, the organizers of the competition for this opportunity. I dedicate this victory to all my fans and supporters and promise to use my talent to spread the gospel and inspire others.”

Tommy Prestige was awarded a cash prize of N300,000, some other special cash gifts, and a performance contract with a reputable gospel organisation in Abuja, organizers of International Praise Jamz. He also received a full scholarship to pursue his four (4) years academic program at Kogi State University, Kabba.

The event was attended by dignitaries, technocrats, theatre practitioners, students of higher institutions of learning, members of the press, coaches and representatives from various centres of ICAN GTHK in Kogi State, and other stakeholders in the entertainment and gospel music industries.

The ICAN Gospel Talent Hunt Kogi is an annual event, providing a platform for gospel talents and creatives in the state to showcase their skills and inspire others.

With his victory, Eritomiwa has become a role model and inspiration to many young people in Kogi State and beyond, demonstrating that with God, talent, hard work, and dedication, anything is possible.
