Ijumu Executive Chairman Assures Calm and Swift Action over a Kidnapping case in Iyara
The Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, has addressed the people of Iyara Community and the entire local government regarding the distressing kidnapping incident that occurred late yesterday. He urged residents to remain calm and vigilant while assuring them that security measures have been promptly put in place to rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible.
In his statement, Alhaji Haruna expressed deep dissatisfaction with the incident and reiterated his administration’s commitment to the safety and security of lives and property. He noted:
“It is with great dissatisfaction that I address the entire people of Iyara and Ijumu Local Government on the unfortunate kidnap of a resident of Iyara Community. I urge the entire society to remain calm and provide us with useful information that will aid our actions. Just like in the past, I want to assure you all that we will rescue the victim and bring the horrible perpetrators to book.”
He emphasized the administration’s efforts since the inception as Transition Committee and now as Executive Chairman, highlighting a significant reduction in kidnapping cases within the local government area
“Our administration has always prioritised the security of lives and properties. Our past efforts have yielded great results, drastically reducing kidnapping cases. Over the past year, the local government recorded fewer than four incidents, a significant improvement from what it used to be. We had our last case in September, making it over four months with zero cases. We will not allow any unscrupulous elements to tarnish this record. Our administration is focused on protecting the lives and properties of the people, and this we must achieve tirelessly.”
The Chairman concluded by calling on the community to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agents, and work collectively to sustain the peace and normalcy achieved in recent times.
