On the 23rd of October 2024, the executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government inaugurates legislative Council at the Local government secretariat in Iyara, Ijumu Local Government
On the auspicious occasion, the Executive Chairman of Ijumu LGA, Hon Haruna Ibrahim gave a welcome speech as well as proclamation for the commencement of the 2024 activities of the legislative assembly.
The event was attended by notable individuals and political appointees including Hon. Commissioner for Innovations, science and technology, SA on youths and students, SSA on political matters (SGS Office), SSA on local content, LSA’s, WSAs, Other states and Local government appointees.

The ground breaking legislative Opening, produced Hon. Ibikunle Modupe as the Council leader, Hon Ayodeji Olamilekan as Deputy Council leader, Hon. Lawal Monday as majority leader, Hon. Alegbejo Julius as deputy Majority leader. Hon. Abegunde iyewumi as Chief whip and Hon.Kehinde Oluwole As deputy chief whip.
Hon. Harun Ibrahim charged all Councillors and it’s leadership to be committed, loyal and always give back to the society, stressing that the community has selected their leaders based on trust and the leadership most reciprocate by prioritisation the welfare of the people.
Hon. Femi Esemikose who also charged the leadership of the legislative Council stated the need for the legislative Council to be productive at all times. While speaking, he emphasises on the benefits of collaborations with the executive arms to bring an extraordinary governance to the entire people of Ijumu LGA.
Also, the Director of Local Government (DLG), Director of personal management (DPM), and Heads of departments (HODs) present, expressed their unalloyed Loyalty to the leadership of Hon. Haruna Ibrahim and the legislative Council as they disclose their intention to collaborate with the elected and appointed officers of the local government to bring about sporadic development and growth to the people
The Council leader Hon.Modupe Ibikunle gave a note of appreciation as she expressed profound gratitude to the Executive Chairman, Leaders and stakeholders for their unwavering support as she promised to always prioritise Ijumu ahead of any personal agenda
