Honourable Commissioner Charges Youth to be Good Ambassadors at Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary Celebration
During the 64th Independence anniversary celebration organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sport Development in Lokoja, Kogi State, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones FCIB, delivered a powerful message to the youth and students in attendance. With the theme “The youth as the catalyst to innovation”, Hon. Jones urged the young generation to be good ambassadors – not only of their families, but also of the state and Nigerian society at large.
Addressing the crowd, the Commissioner congratulated Nigerians and Kogites for witnessing another Independence Day and emphasized that Nigeria is on the brink of a total turnaround towards a hardship-free future. He expressed his confidence in the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and encouraged everyone to remain steadfast and focused as Nigeria works towards greatness once again.

In addition, Hon. Jones stressed the importance of self-reliance and entrepreneurship skills among the youth, highlighting the need for sustainable development and innovation in today’s society. He called on young individuals to embrace entrepreneurial opportunities and sharpen their skills in order to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the nation.
The Commissioner also took the opportunity to commend the administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, for its dedication to revamping the education sector in Kogi State. He mentioned the tremendous growth and advancement in the education system, noting that the state government has been covering the costs of all internal and external examinations for students. This initiative will continue, ensuring that all students have access to quality education without financial barriers.
Furthermore, Hon. Jones revealed that Kogi State is home to three universities, all of which offer entrepreneurship courses to empower youth with the necessary skills for self-development and success. He encouraged young individuals to take advantage of these educational opportunities and become active participants in the state’s journey towards progress and prosperity.
