Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael Welcomes Hundreds of PDP, NNPP, ADC, SDP, AA Members To APC From Okebukun And Olle/Okeoffin Wards
Scores of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, and other political parties bigwigs and stalwarts (NNPP, ADC, SDP and AA) again suffered a huge loss in Okebukun and Olle/Okeoffin wards in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State as its members in all the polling units in Okebukun and Olle Okeoffin wards defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC.
The decampees from different polling units were received into the ruling party on Saturday by the Bunu APC leaders, Hon Wemi Jones FCIB, Comdr Jerry Omodara rtd, Hon Seyi Bello, Hon Moses Olorunleke, Hon Nathaniel Taiwo, Hon Olorunnipa Juwon, Hon Owoyomi Williams, with notable APC chieftains and members of the All Progressive Congress APC.
The APC chairmanship candidate, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael noted that Governor Ododo’s leadership style endeared opposition members to the ruling party. He also pledged inclusion, fair treatment as PDP, NNPP, ADC, SDP AA chieftains and members joined APC.
He urged the defectors, to be loyal, committed and law abiding “so that you can enjoy the benefits of being an APC member to the fullest.”
In his separate speeches, Zacchaeus promised to work hard to give the APC more weight at the grassroots.
He cited the leadership qualities and achievements of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo led administration as bases for shifting political camps.
According to the APC flag bearer, he said the defectors decision is borne out of the desire to serve the state better and by every standard APC represents the best interest of Nigerian people because of her overwhelming and people’s oriented policies and programs.
Additionally, he stressed that every reasonable politician must be firm in taking positive decisions concerning his or her political career. He advised the new members to be dedicated to the party’s principles and ideals, saying the challenges ahead required more commitment and sacrifice.
“Why did we decamp? Our reason is very simple. We want a listening and understanding leader, and a leader that has the interest of the masses at heart,” Hon (Engr) John Ibisagba former PDP stalwart stated.
Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael appreciates all the decampees for identifying with the government and the ruling party in the State, pointing out that their defection underscores the rising popularity of the party in the State and nationally.
“We’re honoured to receive you all in Okebukun and Olle Okeoffin wards respectfully and with what we have seen, these are a very formidable group that will strengthen our unity of purpose to work together and free ourselves from being intimidated,” he said.
He thanked the defectors for recognising the giant strides of Governor Ododo across all sectors, including youth and women empowerment, which he noted motivated them into joining the APC.
Zacchaeus charged them to join hands with the old members of the APC and work assiduously for an all- round victory for the party and its candidates from the ward to local government level during the 2024 chairmanship and councilorship elections.
