LGA Polls: Hon Alausa Emerged As The Councilorship Candidate For Egbeda Ward
Ahead of the forthcoming local government elections, Egbeda ward in Kabba/Bunu LGA yesterday, 29th July 2024 decides on who to become the candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) comes October 19th, 2024.
In Egbeda ward we have five contestants and all the 26 ward executives and all the stakeholders; past councilor, past state appointees, party leaders were all present in a ward meeting yesterday.
After much deliberation and pleading to step down for one person yield no result. The entire ward stakeholders later agreed to do a shadow primary to elect who represent their ward in the local government elections.
In that shadow primary, it was all agreed by the ward stakeholders that all the 26 ward executives would be the delegates to vote.
Out of the 26 ward executives, 22 delegates voted for Hon Olorundare Ojo aka Alausa while the former speaker candidate scored only 1 vote.
In the spirit of sportsmanship, the candidate of the former speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mathew Kolawole congratulated the winner of the contest, saying that the voice of the people is clearly written boldly.
So, we don’t know why the former speaker is trying to subvert the wishes of the people in the Egbeda ward.
The chairman of the Ward, Chief Jimoh Kobere expressed his satisfaction to the entire ward stakeholders and the executives for conducting themselves in a good manner that made the election process free, fair and credible.
He urged the good people of Egbeda Ward to come out in mass to cast their vote for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the coming council polls in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
Similarly, the immediate past councilor from Egbeda ward, Hon Segun Adekunle commendable the courage of the entire ward executives to have a unifier as the APC candidate for the ward. He advised the winner to be open minded to accommodate all party members and be magnanimous in victory noting that the interest of the party members should be his priority.
