APC Youth Coalition in Appa/Agbede Warns Against Electoral Injustice in Okebukun Ward
Drama Unfolds as Winner of Okebukun Ward Counselorship Primary Election is Shortchanged
In a surprising turn of events, the winner of the Okebukun Ward counselorship primary election, Hon. Ogunnibi Catherine Oluwaayo, was unjustly stripped of her victory and replaced with the second runner up, Iselewa Tosin. This decision has sparked outrage among the Coalition of Concerned APC Youths in Appa/Agbede, who are calling for justice to be served.
The primary election, which took place on the 27th of July, 2024, saw a total of five female aspirants vying for the counselorship position. After a rigorous selection process, Hon. Ogunnibi Catherine Oluwaayo emerged as the clear winner, much to the excitement of the ward leaders and stakeholders present.
However, to the dismay of many, the result was overturned and Iselewa Tosin was declared the winner instead. This blatant manipulation of the outcome has raised concerns among the community, as the position was specifically zoned to the Appa/Agbede unit in Okebukun Ward, with a strong desire for an indigene to represent the community.
The Coalition of Concerned APC Youths in Appa/Agbede are urging all stakeholders, both within and outside of Okebukun Ward, to intervene in this matter before it escalates into a full-blown crisis. The youth group warns of potential unrest and communal discord if Hon. Ogunnibi Catherine Oluwaayo, an indigene of the community, is not rightfully declared as the winner of the primary election.
The community’s strong attachment to the counselorship position, being the first time they have the opportunity to produce a counselor in the ward, further emphasizes the need for transparency and fairness in the selection process. The Coalition of Concerned APC Youths emphasizes the importance of upholding the democratic values of the party and ensuring that the will of the people is respected.
As tensions rise in Okebukun Ward, the leadership of the APC is called upon to swiftly address the issue and prevent any potential conflict from erupting. The community’s aspirations for a counselor who truly represents their interests must be upheld, and justice must be served to the rightful winner of the primary election.
The Coalition of Concerned APC Youths in Appa/Agbede stand firm in their demand for Hon. Ogunnibi Catherine Oluwaayo to be declared as the rightful winner of the Okebukun Ward counselorship primary election, and they await the intervention of the party leadership to rectify this injustice.
