Kogi Governorship: Apex Court is the only way to ensure victory for democracy as Braimoh goes to Supreme Court for justice
Following the Appeal Court judgment in Abuja on Thursday, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, the Action Alliance Governorship Candidate in the Kogi State November 2023 election, has announced his intention to take his case to the Supreme Court.
Braimoh, in a statement obtained by the press, emphasized that he believes the Apex Court is the only avenue to secure victory for democracy and the people of Kogi State.
This decision comes after the Appeal Court upheld the election tribunal’s dismissal of his petition against Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on technical grounds.
Braimoh claims that the evidence provided by his team demonstrated significant manipulation of the election process by the ruling party and INEC.
He expressed disappointment that the Appeal Court did not overturn the tribunal’s decision.”Our decision to take this case to the Supreme Court demonstrates our unwavering commitment to upholding democracy and fighting against electoral malpractice,” Braimoh stated.
He stressed that the people of Kogi State deserve a fair and transparent election process, free from manipulation and interference.
Braimoh also highlighted that his move to the Supreme Court underscores his belief in the rule of law and the integrity of the electoral process. Despite setbacks at the lower courts, he remains hopeful that the truth will prevail and that the voices of Kogi State’s people will be heard.
He concluded by stating that his pursuit of this legal battle is not only for his personal cause but also for the future of democracy in Kogi State. “I’m standing up against corruption and injustice, and I’m determined to ensure that the will of the people is respected and upheld,” Braimoh affirmed.
