Arc Idris Salman vs Prince Yomi Kolawole: The Era of Bole, Kaja Politics is Gone for Good
The ongoing political face-off between Arc Idris Salman and Prince Yomi Kolawole, two prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, has once again brought to the fore the disturbing trend of personality clashes and smear campaigns that have long characterized local politics in the area.
Rather than engaging in meaningful debates and presenting development-driven manifestos, both camps appear to be caught in a needless battle of ego and influence — what many now describe as Bole, Kaja politics — a style rooted in personal rivalry rather than the collective interest of the people.
This brand of politics, which thrives on mudslinging and name-calling, has done little to advance the socio-economic wellbeing of the constituency. It diverts attention from the real issues confronting the people — such as youth unemployment, infrastructural decay, poor access to healthcare, and the need for quality education and sustainable empowerment programmes.
At a time when the electorate is increasingly enlightened and demanding accountability, it is disheartening to see supposed progressive leaders trading barbs instead of ideas. The good people of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu deserve better — leaders who are visionary, development-oriented, and ready to rise above petty divisions.
Politics should not be about who shouts the loudest or commands the most social media attention, but about who has the clearest plan to deliver results. The era of Bole, Kaja politics is indeed gone for good. What the people now seek are leaders who can articulate clear policy directions and offer pragmatic solutions that will unlock the full potential of the constituency.
As the 2027 general elections approach, it is imperative for all political actors in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu to embrace issue-based campaigns and reject the temptation to engage in destructive propaganda. The time has come to elevate the conversation — from personal attacks to purposeful leadership.
The people deserve nothing less.
