Senator Sunday Karimi’s remarkable progress in the Senate has earned him widespread recognition, and many believe he deserves another term.
For many who have followed the representation of Kogi West, without sounding immodestly, no representation can be said to equal Sen. Karimi’s just two years in office.
Despite running an election after campaign that was said to be tedious, some of Sen. Karimi’s notable achievements are visible and verifiable.
His Legislative Contributions had seen Sen. Karimi sponsoring several key bills, including the Dishonored Cheques Repeal and Re-enactment Bill 2023, ICPC Amendment Bill 2023, and Penal Code Amendment Bill 2023.
He has also moved numerous motions, such as prioritizing nation-building, national unity, and development in the 10th Senate.
His Infrastructure Development has been instrumental in pushing for the completion of critical infrastructure projects, including the Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road, which has been abandoned for over 15 years. He has also facilitated the reconstruction of the damaged Pakuta Bridge, valued at over N17 million.
The Empowerment Programs of the senator has seen him implemented various empowerment initiatives, including:
– Women Empowerment: N100 million business fund for 50 women cooperatives
– Scholarship Scheme: N100 million scholarship fund for 1,000 students
– Traders Empowerment: N100,000 each to traders across 7 local government areas
- Security: Karimi has taken steps to enhance security in Kogi West, including the construction of a military base in Egbe and providing logistics support to security agencies.
-Education and Healthcare: He has invested in educational infrastructure, such as the construction of a 1,000-seat lecture hall, and has supported healthcare initiatives, including donating N11 million to support nursing education. - Under his Community Development, Karimi has engaged in various community development projects, including water supply and sanitation initiatives, rural electrification, and road repairs.
