Yagba East Council Chairman Hosts Kogi Commissioner at Youth Townhall Meeting

The Executive Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Joshua Dare Monday, on Wednesday hosted the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, and his entourage at the Kogi Youth Townhall Meeting held in Isanlu.

The event, themed “Let’s Review, Engage and Shape the Future,” provided an open platform for youths to assess the performance of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration over the past one and a half years, particularly in areas affecting youth inclusion and development.

Welcoming the commissioner and his team, Hon. Dr Dare appreciated the choice of Yagba East as a strategic location for youth mobilization and engagement. He noted that youths in the area have remained steadfast in their support for the Ododo-led administration and are committed to contributing meaningfully to the development of the state.

Addressing the participants, the council chairman reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to empowering young people through deliberate policies and programs. He urged the youths to take advantage of emerging opportunities in education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and governance.

“We will continue to stand by you. Your future is important to us, and we are building a local government that allows you to thrive,” he said.

Hon. Dr Dare encouraged the youths to remain disciplined, focused, and innovative, emphasizing that leadership is earned through responsibility, service, and self-development.

He reiterated the council’s commitment to fostering a youth-friendly environment, while commending Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his inclusive and visionary leadership, particularly in the implementation of programs targeting youth development.

“Governor Ododo has continued to demonstrate his belief in the power of young people to transform society. As a local government, we stand firm with him and will continue to work closely with our youths to support his vision,” he said.

The highlight of the event was the chairman’s announcement of a ₦2 million support fund donated in the name of Governor Ododo to support the program. He described the gesture as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to youth development.

The event featured robust interactive sessions where youth participants asked questions, shared concerns, and made constructive suggestions to deepen youth engagement in governance and development.

In attendance were local government officials, traditional rulers, youth leaders, community stakeholders, and representatives of various youth groups from across Yagba East.
