Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael Celebrates Women In Kabba/Bunu LGA At International Women’s Day

As Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area joined the rest of the world on Saturday to celebrate the 2025 International Women’s Day, the Executive Chairman, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, said the local government is committed to bridging the gender gap.

To celebrate the immense impact of their work on the drive towards a Greater Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael has taken advantage of this year’s International Women’s Day to celebrate women.

“We must ensure we continue to record growth across all facets of our society. Therefore, celebrating women isn’t just the right thing to do, recognizing their immense contributions and impact is necessary for growth and sustainable development at a time when women make up almost half of our population, and are fast becoming the largest group of enablers of the economy through their enterprise and sheer desire for greatness,” Zacchaeus said.

He noted that the occasion underscored the urgency of addressing persistent inequalities and barriers that hinder women from realizing their full potential.

He said the occasion remained a reminder of the essential role women play in shaping societies and driving progress.

“We have made significant investments in initiatives designed to empower and uplift women, fostering self-sufficiency, leadership, and economic participation.’’

He added, “Our policies are dedicated to protecting women from gender-based violence while also creating opportunities for them to assume leadership roles in governance and decision-making.

Zacchaeus emphasized that women had continued to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and contribute immensely to national development across the world.

To this end, the chairman called on all stakeholders, government, civil society organisations, the private sector, and individuals to work collaboratively in accelerating the actions needed to close the gender gap.
