29th Jan. 2025

It is with immense gratitude that I address you all, as we mark 100 days of purposeful leadership in Ijumu Local Government. This journey has been a testament to the collective will and support of our people, and I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all who have contributed to the success of our administration so far.

First and foremost, I express my deepest gratitude to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his exemplary leadership and continuous support. My appreciation also goes to our esteemed traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women groups, party stakeholders, civil servants, security outfits, philanthropists, and political office holders from Ijumu. Your commitment, sacrifices, and cooperation have been invaluable in shaping a better Ijumu Local Government.

Through our collective efforts, Ijumu has witnessed remarkable progress across various sectors. One of the major achievements is the ongoing 10km road construction in Ayetoro Gbede, which will enhance transportation and economic activities. We have also secured approval for the construction of the Asaya-Ogidi-Ayere road, further improving connectivity within the local government. The takeover and revitalization of our hospital by the state government is another significant milestone, ensuring better healthcare services for our people. Additionally, the ongoing rehabilitation of the Odokoro Gbede Healthcare Centre and the building of a new Healthcare Centre in Ayeh Gbede further demonstrate our commitment to quality healthcare for all. In security infrastructure, the ongoing construction of the police command at Ekirin Adde will strengthen law enforcement efforts, while the soon-to-commence garri processing industry and produce market in Iyara community will boost the local economy and agricultural productivity.

Security remains a top priority, and we have made significant strides in ensuring the safety of lives and properties. Security vehicles have been procured and serviced to ensure swift operations. Motorcycles have been donated to security personnel to enhance surveillance, and over 100 local hunters have been recruited and placed on monthly salaries to complement existing security agencies. These efforts have resulted in the peace we enjoy today. A testament to this was the swift response to the unfortunate kidnap incident in Iyara, where through collaborative efforts, the victim was successfully rescued and peace was fully restored.

Recognizing the importance of agriculture, we have launched initiatives to empower our youth and enhance food security. The cluster farming initiative is set to engage over 1,000 youths in agriculture, with the government providing ploughing, cultivation, seedlings, and chemicals to support farmers. This project will not only ensure food availability but also create employment opportunities and increase the revenue of the local government.

To safeguard our environment for future generations, we have implemented key policies aimed at environmental protection. The production of charcoal, which poses a serious threat to our forests, has been banned. Additionally, the activities of timber harvesters are being closely monitored to prevent deforestation, while local environmental associations are being strengthened to promote sustainable resource management.

As we move forward, our administration remains committed to delivering more developmental projects, fostering unity, and improving the standard of living in Ijumu Local Government. With your continued support, we will achieve even greater milestones in the days ahead.

Thank you for your trust and cooperation. Together, we will build a more prosperous Ijumu!
