NNPP Wins All 44 Chairmanship, 484 Councillorship Seats In Kano LG Election

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has achieved a decisive victory in the recently concluded local government elections in Kano State, winning all 44 chairmanship and 484 councillorship positions across the state’s local government areas.

The chairman of Kano state independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi disclosed this while briefing journalist at the KANSIEC headquarters in Kano, Saturday night.

This outcome was confirmed by Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi, Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), who praised the election as peaceful, transparent, and credible. He noted that the NNPP successfully swept all seats, while other parties, including the AA, AAC, Accord Party, and ADC, did not secure any positions.

The electoral process proceeded after a ruling from the Kano State High Court, which upheld KANSIEC’s authority to conduct local elections despite attempts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 13 other political parties to halt the process. Justice Sanusi Ma’aji presided over the case, affirming KANSIEC’s constitutional mandate to oversee the election across Kano’s 44 local government areas.

Interestingly, the Kano State Police Command complied with a separate court order restricting its participation in the election. Superintendent of Police Abdullahi Haruna confirmed that the police followed the directive to remain uninvolved but maintained their responsibility for protecting lives and property during the election period.
