Kabba/Bunu LGA NULGE, NUT, NASU, Medical And Health Worker’s Union Of Nigeria, Endorse Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael For Chairman

Ahead of the 2024 Local Government Elections in Kogi State, the Kabba/Bunu LGA chapters of organised Labour Unions including the Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Nigeria Union Of Teacher’s (NUT), Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Medical And Health Worker’s Union Of Nigeria (MHWUN) have endorsed the chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael and the vice chairperson candidate Hon (Mrs) Ifedunmi Olumeyan.

For the first time, Organized Labour in Kabba/Bunu LGA has come out to openly declare support for the candidate of a political party. The union leaders made the declaration today at a solidarity meeting held in Kabba to endorse Hon (Barr) Zacchaeus Dare Michael of the All Progressive Congress APC, citing the APC flag bearer landmark achievements and his implementation of labour-friendly policies in governance while serving as the former caretaker chairman.

The unveiling endorsement was led by the NULGE Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, who doubled as the Kogi West NULGE zonal leader and also the Protocol Officer of the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, in person of Comrade Mcpherson Dele Olowo, the Okaku Jnr of Kogi West.

In his goodwill message, the leader of the joint unions, Comrade McPherson Dele Olowo said the endorsement for Zacchaeus Olumeyan/Movement was in the right direction.

Also speaking at the event was the State Security Adviser to the Kogi State Governor, Comdr Jerry Omodara rtd which he expressed his joy and gratitude to the joint unions for showing their support for the APC candidates. He said it was the first time that labour unions in the local government area would endorse the candidate of any party.

He commended the APC chairmanship candidate for having a listening ear and being accommodating that he believes his administration would continue to make life better and liveable for workers in the local government area.

In response, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael described the Worker’s endorsement as “a well-considered decision”, saying the gesture would be reciprocated with more efforts to improve the lives of workers in Kabba/Bunu LGA.

He said his administration would not take workers for granted and thanked them for their backing that he will provide the best workplace for them to flourish.

“We would introduce unprecedented reforms to improve the welfare and the well-being of our workers, stressing that workers constituted 60 per cent of the electorate”, Zacchaeus said.
