Kabba/Bunu Labour Party Chairmanship Candidate, Amb. Salami Benjamin Vows to Hit the Ground Running When Elected, Promises Good Governance Amidst Hunger and Poverty
Ambassador Salami Oludare Benjamin, the Labour Party Chairmanship candidate for Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in the upcoming Kogi State Local Government elections, has pledged to swiftly address pressing issues such as poverty, hunger, and insecurity if elected. In a recent interaction with the press in Kabba, Amb. Salami emphasized his readiness to hit the ground running, noting that the people have endured too much hardship and are in desperate need of effective leadership.
“The level of poverty, hunger, and insecurity in the land has reached alarming levels, and the people can no longer bear it,” he said. He urged the people of Kabba/Bunu to come out en masse and vote overwhelmingly for the Labour Party, which he believes will offer genuine governance, tackle hunger, create employment opportunities, and ensure the safety of lives and property.
Amb. Salami criticized the status quo, highlighting how politicians often disappear after securing votes, leaving the electorate to suffer until the next campaign season. “They come to seek our votes during elections, but once they win, they vanish. We don’t hear from them again until another campaign cycle. We cannot continue like this,” he remarked. According to him, the current political system has only served the interests of a few, enriching them at the expense of the masses.
He further stressed the importance of voting wisely in the upcoming election, reminding the people that their future and that of their children rests in their hands. “Let us vote wisely so we can put an end to bad governance, hunger, and insecurity in our land. The Labour Party is ready to provide good governance and bring smiles to the faces of the people of Kabba/Bunu LGA,” he said.

Salami called on security agencies and the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) to maintain transparency and fairness throughout the election process. “I appeal to our security agencies and the electoral umpire to ensure transparency and provide a level playing field. Let the outcome of the election truly reflect the will of the electorate,” he urged.
