Kogi Local Government Council Elections: ADC Endorses APC Chairmanship Candidates in Kabba-Bunu and Ijumu LGAs
In a surprising turn of events, the African Democratic Party (ADC) has officially endorsed Hon. (Barr) Zacheaus Dare Michael and Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim (DStv), the Chairmanship Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba-Bunu and Ijumu Local Government Areas (LGAs), along with all the councilorship candidates. This announcement was made in a statement by the leader of ADC in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Dr. Idris Rufus Oluwafemi (IDRUFEM) at a party leaders’ meeting in Kabba.
According to IDRUFEM, the decision to endorse the APC candidates was unanimously agreed upon by the National Leader of the party, Hon. Leke Abejide, and other party leaders of the Federal Constituency. He emphasized that the ADC party structure remains intact, but the endorsement is a necessary step to maintain peace and development in Kogi State.
“We believe in sustaining the peace that the state is presently enjoying, and we feel that to maintain this peace, everyone has to come together,” IDRUFEM stated. “We are a grassroot focused party and we believe the Local Government is the closest Government to the people, hence we will activate our party’s election winning strategies to complement APC’s efforts to victory.”
This unexpected move has sparked intrigue and speculation among political observers in the state, with many questioning the motives behind the endorsement. However, Dr. Femi Modeyin (Klinnsman) stated that “the party remains steadfast in his belief that this decision is in the best interest of the people and the state as a whole”.
