Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, Discusses Education Development with Okene Secondary School Stakeholders
The Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, received a distinguished delegation comprising the King and Traditional Council, along with the board members of the Governing Council of Okene Secondary School and the school’s Principal, Mr. Umar Adabara Abduljelil, in his office. The gathering was centered around discussing plans for further enhancing Okene Secondary School, one of the oldest educational institutions in Kogi Central.
Principal Abduljelil commended the Commissioner for his dedication, hard work, and intellectual leadership that have significantly transformed education in Kogi State. He expressed gratitude for the government’s efforts and promised to work tirelessly to uphold high educational standards at Okene Secondary School.
HRH Engr. Sule Otu, the traditional ruler from Okene, also praised the Commissioner for his relentless efforts and shared the rich history of Oboroke Secondary School. He applauded the government’s commitment to improving school infrastructure and facilities, particularly at Okene Secondary School, and concluded his remarks with a prayer for the Commissioner.
In response, Commissioner Jones thanked the stakeholders for their dedication and emphasized the government’s ongoing initiatives to enhance the quality of education in Kogi State. He reassured the attendees of the government’s commitment to invest in school infrastructure and facilities to create a conducive learning environment for students.
Furthermore, Commissioner Jones announced a new World Bank program, AGILE, which is aimed at developing local schools and improving educational outcomes across the state. Dr. Yekini Bello, the AGILE State Project Coordinator, who was present at the meeting, assured the stakeholders of prompt action from both the government and the World Bank AGILE project.
Other prominent figures present at the meeting included school board members Engr. Yisah Yakubu Adajah, Engr. Aliu Omeiza Muhammad, Hon. Yekini Okino, Mrs. Farook, Mr. Ustaz Rasheed, and others, who all expressed their commitment to supporting the development of Okene Secondary School.
The meeting highlighted the collaborative efforts between the government, traditional leaders, school administrators, and board members to advance education in Kogi State, setting a strong foundation for future educational initiatives.
