Over 200 Supporters Switch Allegiance to APC in Kogi Power Play

In a political move that has sent shockwaves through Kogi state, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan, a prominent Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi West, has officially crossed party lines along with over two hundred of his supporters to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The highly anticipated switch of allegiance took place at a ceremony in Otunba Mokikan’s ward, Aiyetoro Kiri, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, where they were warmly received by top government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Ayoade commended Otunba Mokikan for his decision, stating that his move towards the APC was a positive step towards the overall development and progress of the state. She assured the defectors that they would not regret their actions and urged party executives to embrace them with open arms.

Highlighting the achievements of previous and current APC appointees from Bunu land, Mrs. Ayoade lauded their efforts in contributing to the success stories of the government in Kogi state.

In a show of support and appreciation, Hon. Duro Meseko, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, hailed Otunba Mokikan as a grassroots mobilizer and expressed his delight over the defection. He also praised the appointees from Bunu land for their dedication towards providing democracy dividends to the people of Okun.

In his response, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan emphasized his commitment to uniting the party for enhanced performance, vowing to work towards advancing the interests of the APC in their community, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi, and Nigeria as a whole.

The ceremony, which was attended by political officeholders from Bunu and Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, showcased the warm reception and support extended to Otunba Mokikan by party leadership, signaling a new chapter in the political landscape of Kogi state.
