Kogi State College Of Education Technical’s Relocation to Mopa: A New Chapter in Technical Education
After 13 remarkable years in Kabba, Kogi State College of Education Technical has relocated to Mopa, marking a significant milestone in its journey. During its tenure in Kabba, the College has produced 10 sets of graduates who have made invaluable contributions to the economic development of Kogi State and Nigeria through their technical and vocational expertise.
Technical education is the backbone of economic growth and development, providing students with practical skills that are essential for the workforce. It fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving, transforming societies and driving progress. The importance of technical education cannot be overstated, and we commend the Kogi State government for their zeal in bringing technical education to rural areas.

The relocation of the College to Mopa is a laudable effort to expand access to technical education, and we thank the government for their commitment to this cause. However, as the College begins a new chapter in Mopa, it faces significant challenges that need to be addressed urgently.
Currently, the College lacks adequate classrooms to accommodate its students, and staff offices are nonexistent. Moreover, the staff are struggling to relocate their families to Mopa due to the current economic situation, which is affecting their morale and productivity. The College’s location, though strategic, is far from the town, necessitating adequate security measures to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Despite these challenges, lectures have commenced, and the Management is working diligently to ensure a smooth transition. We must commend the Elulu of Mopa, HRM Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon. Destiny Ademola, and the entire Mopa community for their intervention and support to the College. Their contributions have been invaluable, and we appreciate their efforts.
Nevertheless, we urge the government to prioritize the provision of necessary resources and support to ensure the continued success of the institution. This includes providing:
- Adequate classrooms and staff offices
- Relocation assistance to staff
- Enhanced security measures
- Equipment and infrastructure needed for teaching and learning
We acknowledge the government’s efforts in bringing technical education to rural areas and urge them to continue investing in this vital sector. With the right support, Kogi State College of Education Technical can continue to produce graduates who will drive economic growth and development in Kogi State and beyond.
