KSU Kabba: Governing Council Holds Maiden Meeting, Pays Courtesy Visit to Obaro, Other Stakeholders

The newly inaugurated Governing Council of Kogi State University, Kabba has held its maiden meeting on the university’s campus, setting the stage for a series of critical decisions aimed at advancing the institution’s development.

According to university spokesperson Mr. Tade Oshaloto, the Council is engaging in a week-long program at the school. This initiative underscores the Council’s commitment to making a significant impact on the university’s trajectory.

Speaking to journalists after the Council and university management paid a courtesy visit to the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, in his palace, the Council’s Chairman, Professor Suleiman Sadiku, emphasized their dedication to harmonious collaboration. Under his leadership, the Governing Council aims to work closely with the management team, led by Professor Kehinde Eniola, to fulfill the institution’s stakeholders’ aspirations and elevate the university’s status among its peers.

Professor Sadiku highlighted the Council’s plans to inspect and thoroughly assess the university’s infrastructural development and manpower. He assured stakeholders that the Council would assist the management in executing their daily responsibilities efficiently. Despite the university’s relative youth, it has established a solid foundation in teaching and research, positioning itself alongside older and more established institutions like the University of Ibadan and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Sadiku expressed confidence that Kogi State University, Kabba would soon gain global recognition.

The Chairman lauded the host community, noting that Okunland is home to numerous distinguished individuals, including professors and technocrats, many of whom are eager to contribute their expertise to the university’s advancement. He stressed that the support of the host community is crucial for the institution’s overall development, prompting the Council and management to visit the Obaro of Kabba to secure the traditional institution’s and community’s endorsement.

In response, the Obaro assured the Council of the community’s full cooperation and support, recognizing the immense socio-economic benefits the university would bring over time. He pledged to do everything possible to support the university’s growth, emphasizing that education is a primary pursuit for the people of Okunland.
