Retired Correctional Service Boss, Marlon Shemfe Bags Ekinrin-Adde Life-Time Achievement Award

Marlon Babatunde Ekundayo Shemfe, a retired Deputy Controller General of Nigeria Correctional Services, has been given a special recognition at this year’s Ekinrin -Adde day celebrations as he receives Ekinrin-Adde’s Life-Time Achievement Award.

Marlon Babatunde Ekundayo Shemfe (FCAI), a retired Deputy Controller General of Nigeria Correctional Services,was born in the 50s into the family of Late Pa Gabriel Ayodele and Mama Janet Shemfe of Ekinrin Adde in Ijumu LGA, Kogi State.

He attended Offa Grammar School and Kwara State College of Technology Ilorin, where he obtained his Higher National Diploma (Upper Credit) in Town and Regional Planning. He later capped his academic qualifications with a master degree in Social Work from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomosho.

He was employed as a class teacher by Kwara state Education Management Board in 1984 and deployed to Ponyan Comprehensive High School, where he later transferred his service to then Nigerian Prisons Service, in 1989.

DCG Shemfe Prison’s tour of duty includes: 2i/c Ilorin Prison, Officer in charge Ankpa Prison, Ikot-Ekpene Prison and Medium Security Prison Kirikiri, Lagos and CP Admin, Zone F Headquarters Ibadan.

Other command responsibilities are: Head of Human Resource Department NHQ Abuja, Pioneer Commandant Nigerian Prisons Academy Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.

In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Prisons and subsequently in 2017 he got elevated to the rank of Deputy Controller General of Prisons to head Operations Directorate of the Service.

It is on record that retired DCG Marlon Babatunde Ekundayo Shemfe, through God’s providence, is the only Kogite that has attained this enviable height in the annals of Nigerian Prisons Service now known as Nigerian Correctional Service.

He retired meritoriously from active service in 2019.

This retired astute administrator and Social Engineer is widely travelled, he attended courses and conferences locally and internationally around the globe.

He received several Awards while in service and was equally well decorated by some communities. Notable among the Awards are:

Merit Award by EACDA, in 2009, in recognition of his social, academic and economic mobilization of youths in the community. Community Service Award by EACDA in 2018. Ilasa-Ekiti Highest merit Award November 2021. Distinguished Community Service Award Ijebu-Igbo Ogun State December 2021

He is happily married to Mrs. Adenike Monisola Shemfe and the union is blessed with children and lovely grandchildren.
