Federal Government Provides Rice Palliative to Kogi State: A Beacon of Hope
In a gesture of support and solidarity, the Federal Government of Nigeria has extended its aid to the people of Kogi State by delivering a substantial quantity of rice as part of a palliative effort. The delivery, received by key officials including the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Timothy Ojoma, the State Coordinator of Kogi State Sustainable Integrated Agricultural Development Agency (KSSIPA), Hajiya Aishat Oyiza Omade, and the Honourable Muktar Atima from the State Emergency and Management Agency (SEMA), marks a significant step in addressing the challenges faced by communities in the region.
On Friday, April 5, 2024, the first truckload of rice arrived, heralding the commencement of what is expected to be an unprecedented number of deliveries from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. The Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, speaking through Dami Adenuga, the Head of Media, Communications & ICT of KSSIPA, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention during a period of unparalleled difficulties.
The State Coordinator of KSSIPA, Hajiya Aishat Oyiza Omade, disclosed that the forthcoming deliveries will include up to 50 trucks carrying 25kg bags of rice. Emphasizing the importance of equitable distribution, she assured that all measures would be taken to ensure the rice reaches every corner of the state, spanning all 21 local governments. This distribution plan aligns with the directives of His Excellency, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, underscoring the government’s commitment to reaching every segment of the population.
Furthermore, the State Emergency and Management Agency (SEMA), represented by Honourable Muktar Atima, has pledged comprehensive security measures to safeguard the palliative efforts. This assurance reinforces the government’s dedication to not only providing essential resources but also ensuring their safe and efficient delivery to those in need.
