The 27th of January, 2024 brought to an end the second tenure of His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello as the Executive Governor of Kogi State. It was not a surprise because the end commences from every beginning and there is a season for everything under the sun. The season to bow from the stage came and he did not hesitate to exit, albeit proudly.
One will not forget that the divine orchestrated emergence of GYB in 2016 set the tune for the new political leadership in Kogi State. This will not course without various challenges. The beginning of GYB administration was heralded with myriads of daunting and hairsplitting challenges and trials, starting from legal challenges and trials of governing the people of Kogi State as one united people.
No Governor in the history of Kogi State faced so much boisterous trials and challenges like GYB. The opposition and naysayers were hellbent to see his administration end prematurely and shamefully. They tried to make him a notorious Governor and attracted torrents of spites against him. In fact, his demise was announced a couple of times, and like the daughters of the uncircumcised, some people rejoiced the demise of the person who is alive hale, and hearty.
It was obvious that what set GYB apart was his tenacity, courage, focus, vision, passion and commitment to see that he ends well as he works tirelessly for a better Kogi State.
As GYB began his status as a former Governor of Kogi State, he walks tall among his peers, he demonstrated the grit of an astute political reformer, governed the State to the best of his ability, he has laid an indelible legacy and his walk is a walk of pride and not of shame. Res ipsa loquitur.
