Ijumu LGA Caretaker Chairman interfaces with Leadership of Hausa-Fulani in Ilejo, Iyara, sues for peace.

The caretaker Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna has charged the leadership of Hausa-Fulani in Ilejo-Iyara to maintain peace and tranquility with their host communities.

The caretaker Chairman, while stressing the need for peaceful co-existence with their host communities said there is no need for quarrels among them as both Christian faithfuls and adherents of Islam believe in peaceful and harmonious living.

The Chairman called on all the Hausa-Fulanis as well as Host Communities to ensure that nobody attacks one another but report all offences arising from possible destruction of farm lands or killing of cattles to the nearest Divisional Police Officer (D.P.O).

He explained that Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello constituted a Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee,whose mandate is to resolve cases arising from such conflicts, saying Ijumu Local Government will constitute same to strengthen harmonious co-existence between the Fulani and their host community.

While warning that nobody should take law into their hands, Alhaji Ibrahim said that the Council would remain one of the most peaceful Local Governments in the state, and emphasized the need for proper channelling of anger either to the Chairman or the Police, promising to arrange a town hall meeting soon.

The Transition Caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna on behalf of the executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello appreciated the Hausa-Fulani Community for their support during the November 11th 2023 Governorship election that saw the victory of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and his running mate, Comrade Joel Oyibo.

The Hausa Fulani in their response, appreciated the caretaker Chairman for ensuring that everyone’s can live together in peace and harmony irrespective of their religious or tribal background.

On the requested for assistance of the local government Chairman in the area of water, electricity and perimeter fence, the Chairman while responding, said that, “you have voted for continuity in the area of water supply and electricity, because one of the primary aims of Government is to provide social amenities like water and electricity.”

The Chairman promised to look into their request as soon as possible.
