Now that the election is over, we the Kabba Coalition Youths Group have come together to x-ray our political future and the appointment of the next Secretary To Kogi State Government(SSG), among other things.
For the sake of fairness, equity and justice in determining where the position of Kogi State Secretary To The State Government(SSG), should be zoned to, Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency stand better chance ahead the three Federal Constituency in Kogi West Senatorial district.
In buttressing our argument, as at present, the Kogi West Senate is in Yagba Federal Constituency, while the State House of Assembly Speaker is in Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency. This, we believe will pave the way for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency to be able to get the position of the Secretary To The State Government (SSG).
Going by political history, it is only Kabba that haven’t produce the position of Secretary To The State Government in Kogi West Senatorial district.
Ijumu Local Government Area once produced Hon. Olusola Akanmode and Alhaji Imam as Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and presently, Ijumu is holding the position of the House of Representatives and two(2) Commissioners, which are Environment and Special Duties ministries respectively.
While Bunu district in Kabba/Bunu LGA had the SSG in person of Mrs Justina Abanida who filled Bunu slot because of her husband who hails from Bunu district.
As it stand today, Bunu is occupying the position of Commissioner for a consecutive twelve (12)years, Eight (8)years Kogi State Security Adviser, a position that is arguably stronger than a commisioner. Both the two positions from Bunu district, (Commisioner and Kogi State Security Adviser) are members of the State Executive Council. In addition, Bunu are presently holding the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a National working committee of the APC, the LGA Council Chairman, Member, Kogi State House of Assembly. All these at the detriment of Kabba who are the majority. This is to make our argument clear that if our people’s and results oriented Governor, Alhaji Yahaha Bello and our incoming Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo are to put head together to choose the next SSG, they should consider the choice of Kabba for the exalted position.
In the history of Okun Nation, Kabba had never produced the following positions;
- A tenured Senate
- Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
- Deputy Governor
- Secretary To The State Government (SSG)
- Party State Chairman
We want to appeal to Governor Yahaha Bello and the Kogi state Governor elect, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the sake of fairness, equity and justice, Kabba deserve the position of Secretary To The State Government in the incoming administation of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
We also want to appeal to the good people of Kogi West Senatorial district to give their maximum support to Kabba for the sake of fairness, oneness in the appointment of the next SSG as such would strengthen our co-existence for a better and stronger Kogi state.
