The ability of the men and women in the Kogi West Elders Forum (KWEF) in the braking of what had hitherto appears like a jinx in the political firmament of the political development of the people of Kogi West Senatorial District, in coming out to give to the people of the District an endorsed candidate in the run up to the 2023 gubernatorial election of Kogi state will continue to inspire applause and gratitude in their hearts for a very long time.

This is the very first time any group of people will sincerely and honestly approach the issue of the very clear political maginalisation and domination of the people of Kogi West Senatorial District with a highly commendable commitment and devotion.

The positive qualities that stands out the endorsed candidate, Asiwaju Leke Abejide, earning him the endorsement of the Kogi West Elders Forum (KWEF) as the candidate the people of Kogi West Senatorial District will be proud to campaign and vote for and also present to the people and indeed the voters of Kogi Central and East Senatorial Districts are extensive depending on the specific of the historic endorsement and the context of the Kogi State 2023 election.

Since the state was created on the 27th August 1991 by the administration of former President Ibrahim Babangida, no citizen of Kogi West Senatorial District had been opportuned to occupy Lugard House as the Executive Governor except for the three months interregnum, when Hon. Clarence Olafemi was brought in by the court to preside.

The endorsement of Elder Leke Abejide as the candidate of the people is a very welcome development as it aligned favourably with the values and agenda of not just the people of Kogi West Senatorial District of the State but also that of the entire people of Kogi State that had studied critically the political pedigree of Leke Abejide in the political growth and development of the state

Hon. Elder Leke Joseph Abejide was born on 8th of May, 1975 at Alu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi state. Abejide came onto the political scene in Yagba Federal Constituency, the single largest sub-Okun sociocultural bloc with a very promising magnificence

The investiture of Chief Leke Abejide as the Asiwaju of Alu kingdom, the Asiwaju of Yoruba people in Kano state, the Maiyegun of Egbeland among several other honours and recognition eloquently speak to the deep affiliations and broad network of a man, whose political career is rooted in the deep interest, feelings and sensibilities of the people.
