Kogi Gov’ship: Hon. Toyin Afusat Yinusa storms Yagba East, Campaigns for Ododo, and empowers thousands of women.
Vice Chairman Yagba East LGA, Hon. Toyin Afusat Yinusa commences the campaign for Hon. Usman Ododo the APC flag bearer in the November 2023 governorship election in Yagba East LGA. After empowering the women with cash, clothes, and food items she admonished them to vote for the party’s candidate Alhj. Usman Ododo citing the sterling achievements of His Excellency Alhj. Adoza Yahaya Bello in infrastructure, health, education, and women’s inclusion in governance. The importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment has gained momentum worldwide and Kogi State is taking the front seat in Nigeria. One noteworthy example of women’s empowerment in the last eight years can be seen in the context of political appointments which have fostered women’s participation in leadership in the state.
“In many traditional Nigerian political settings, women have historically been relegated to domestic roles and lacked meaningful participation in decision-making processes. However, we have seen a political trajectory that challenged these stereotypes head-on, by emphasizing the importance of women’s voices in governance, courtesy of the generosity of Governor Yahaya Bello.
Alhj. Usman Ododo will pave the way for greater female representation in governance when elected.” She stated.
The women who spoke through their representatives across the ten wards in Yagba East LGA echoed their appreciation to the Hon. Vice Chairman for always remembering them and for also carrying them along on government policies and programs that benefit them and for her sustained act of benevolence through her various outreaches since she became the Vice Chairman.
They offered assurances of their support for the party in the forthcoming election. “We will not only support APC, we will vote and canvass votes for APC in the forthcoming election.” They said.
Their reception of Hon. Toyin Afusat Yinusa stands as a testament to her transformative grassroots empowerment for women and youth since she assumed office.
Recall that Hon. Afusat has been organizing several empowerment programs for women and youths since she assumed office through her philanthropy NGO –Queen Tea Givers never lack. Doing well by the people is in itself a business and a desirable one at that.
