Health Insurance: Gov Bello Gives Health Succour To Kogi Civil Servants As KGSHIA Flags Off Formal Sector Health Insurance Plan- Abraham Jacob
10/07/2023
As enrolment of Civil Servants into the Formal Sector Health Insurance Plan (FOS-Care) of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, KGSHIA, commenced today, Hon. Abraham Jacob, a permanent board member of KGSHIA, commends Governor Yahaya Bello for showing concerns to the health security cum insurance of the state civil servants by fulfilling the part of the government in paying five percent of the 8.5 % insurance premium for each civil servant in the state. Thereby, leaving each civil servant to pay 3.5% percents of their basic salary as their health insurance premium.
It will interest you to know that while a lot of persons were in doubt of whether this formal sector will eventually see the light of the day or not, Governor Yahaya Bello has gone ahead to clear this doubt by making an upfront payment for three months for each civil servants within the state to enable them access quality and affordable healthcare services within KGSHIA accredited hospitals across the state.
This kind gesture of Governor Yahaya Bello is best described as “unprecedented” in the state because no governor before him has ever found it worthy to take a look around health insurance not to even mention the need for the establishment of the agency again.
Because Governor Yahaya Bello holds health to a high esteem in his new direction blueprint, he found the need to sign into law the establishment of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency which is responsible for the enrolment of over fifteen thousand beneficiaries of the BelloCare free healthcare services and now the formal sector for Kogi State Civil servants. It becomes expedient to admit beyond doubt that Governor Yahaya Bello stands out tall.
Today, we have a state owned health insurance agency which now gives health insurance benefits to thousands of civil servants in the state, courtesy of Governor Yahaya Bello.
Civil Servants within the state are therefore enjoined to go to their various MDAs to collect their enrolment forms and get enrolled in order for them to enjoy this amazing healthcare package. This premium is to cover the civil servant, their spouse and four children under eighteen years of age.
Abraham stated that one can’t but love Governor Yahaya Bello for putting the health wellness of the state workforce a priority, bearing in mind that a healthy workforce is a wealthy workforce.
The Permanent Member further submits that the kind gesture of His Excellency has left indescribable joy on the faces of Kogi Civil Servants and the entire Labour Congress in the state.
He grabbed the opportunity to sue for support for the Governor and his administration while expressing confidence that the governor will go any length to ensure that the health security of the workforce within the state remains a top priority as it is evident enough in his magnanimous actions.
