EKINRIN-ADDE DAY: LEKE ABEJIDE, WIFE, RECEIVE HONOURARY CHIEFTAINCY TITTLES

Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, member, representing Yagba West, East and Mopa-Muro Federal Constituency, and his wife, Chief Mrs Esther Abejide, will both be honoured with chieftaincy tittles of Bashorun and Yeye Bashorun of Ekinrin-Adde respectively by the Olu- Adde of Ekinrin-Adde, HRM, Olu Anthony Bamigbaye Idowu (Ahe Maworo 1) ACA, CON.

The conferment, is scheduled for June 24, at the Annual Cultural Day of Ekinrin-Adde.
Publicity Secretary of the Community, Mr. Victor Adewale Adekanye made this public, Tuesday morning.

Adekanye in the statement, described the couple as great philanthropists, whose lives have continued to affect their environment and the people positively.

Hon. Abejide, a Christian of Yagba extraction in Kogi State, was born on the 8th of May, 1975 to Chief and Mrs Abejide from Alu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He obtained his primary school leaving certificate at O.L.M.B Primary School, Alu-Igbagun, after which he proceeded to Alu Community Secondary School where he obtained his SSCE certificate in 1991. He was appointed the Assistant Senior Prefect where his leadership trait was discovered in his final year.

Hon. Abejide bagged a BSc. certificate in Economics at the notable and prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, and further obtained his Masters’ Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Entrepreneurship Development at Bayero University (BUK), Kano.

Hon. Abejide was already a successful cross-border businessman during his undergraduate years due to his innate business acumen.

Being a successful and versatile businessman his business which has employed more than 200 Yagba sons and daughters grew exponentially with international offices. Hon. Leke Abejide is today the Chairman of several companies with interest in shipping, logistics, and oil & gas. He is also a household name in the Maritime Industry that many multi-national companies prefer as their first choice. He is an accomplished and resourceful entrepreneur with an excellent track record. He found a communal responsibility through a non-partisan, non-governmental organization known as Leke Abejide Foundation, which is an intervention agency for all human needs, especially for the less privileged in society the widows, the aged and students.

Under immense pressure from his people Elder Leke Abejide joined the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2019 general election, contested and won landslidingly in February 2019. He was sworn in as a member of the House of Representatives on 11th June 2019.

Being his first stint as a member of the House of Representatives, the Speaker of the House quickly recognized his talent and passion, thereby making him the Chairman House Committee on Customs.Hon. Leke Abejide is a frequent contributor on the floor of the House. He has moved motions and contributed to issues that benefit his constituency and the country. He sponsored the bill for the repeal of Customs and Excise Management act 1958 and to re-enact Nigeria Customs Service Act 2022, a front burner bill assented by the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is worthy that passage of this bill is one of the greatest achievements of the 9th Assembly as it is the first major reform of the Nigeria Customs in 63 years. He has also moved up to 20 Motions of State and National impact on the floor of the House. He also received several awards for excellence and selfless services.

Abejide has been responsible for yearly payment of WAEC FEES of students across the entire Yagba and Okun land, irrespective of State of Origin, religion, party afflictions of recipients in both public and private schools.

Hon. Leke Abejide within his first term as member of the House of Representatives, facilitated several projects having direct impact on his constituents including the rehabilitation of Kabba- Ekinrin Adde-Iyamoye road, also not leaving out all the public secondary schools in Ekinrin- Adde community during the Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal constituency Waec payment with Administrative charges, portraying his zero tolerance to tribalism.
He contested and won his second term election into the Federal House of Representatives to continue his good works for the people of Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro LGAs on 25th February, 2023 with the mandate not to give up on his impressive score-card.
Abejide is the candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Kogi State governorship election.

Recognizing his pedigree and National relevance, he was conferred with the Chieftaincy titles of Asiwaju of Alu-Land, Maiyegun of Egbe land, and Gbobaniyi of Iyamoye.
He is also the Asiwaju Yoruba of Kano, Olu-Omo of Omuo-Ekiti amongst other.
