Hon. Omofaiye Inducted Into Omo-Atata Hall of Fame as Ekinrin Adde Celebrates Annual Day
The immediate past member of Kogi State House of Assembly and Kogi state commissioner for environment, Hon. (Chief) Victor Adewale Omofaiye, will be inducted into Omo-Atata Hall of Fame on 23rd of June 2023 at his home town of Ekinrin-Adde, Ijumu LGA, Kogi State.
The “Omo Atata” awards night celebration, is a flagship dinner and awards night program hosted by the community yearly, which preceeds the annual Ekinrin-Adde day celebration.
Induction of someone into the Omo-Atata Hall of Fame is a recognition given to the sons and daughters of Ekinrin Adde who have made their marks in their chosen career and who have done the community proud in all ramifications.
Mr. Victor Adewale Adekanye, the National Publicity Secretary of Ekinrin Adde Community Development Association in a statement on Friday described Hon. Omofaiye as a humble and refined personality whose intellectual mobility and achievements has earned him the recognition.
Omofaiye was born some years ago in Ekinrin/Adde, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State into a reserved family that takes pride in Education, humility, and dedication to hard work.
He attended Government Secondary School, Ilorin but eventually finished his secondary education at Ikoyi-Ijumu Community High School before proceeding to Kwara College of Education, Oro where he obtained his NCE certificate.
Hon. Victor Adewale Omofaiye’s zeal for higher learning drove him to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he bagged Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Language and has his Masters Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies.
His political career started from his tertiary institution days where he served in different capacities.
In 1991, he was the Director of Social, Ekinrin-Adde Student Union, Director of Social Ijumu Student Union ABU Branch in 1994, Public Relations Officer (PRO) English Literary Association, ABU Zaria 1996, President of English Literary Association Ahmadu Bello University Zaria 1998, and Secretary Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association, Abuja branch among others.
As a man of Destiny, Hon. Victor Adewale Omofaiye was elected In the year 2008 as the legislative Council under Ijumu Local Government Area. As a councilor, his diligence and dexterity made his colleagues to elect him as the Deputy Whip, and he also served as Chairman of various committees.
He was elected member of the Kogi State House of Assembly representing Ijumu constinuency in the year 2015. As a Lawmaker, he rose to the principal position of Chief Whip and used his position to sponsor Bills and Motions that were Beneficial to his constituents and Kogi at large.
Amongst the Bills and motions sponsored by the Hon. Commissioner include;
A Bill for a Law to provide for the establishment of Kogi State Agency for Social Security and Protection of Older Citizens, a bill to establish Kogi State Television which has been signed into law.
He also sponsored a bill to Protect Agricultural Zones in Kogi State as well as Motion calling on the State government for the completion of Ekinrin-Adde and Iyara township roads.
Other motions are; Motion calling for the reconstruction of Okoro-Ayeh-Aiyegunle roads, motion calling on the State Government to establish Kogi State Television Station in Lokoja, Motion calling on the State Government to address the menace of Fulani Herdsmen in Ijumu Local Government.
Aside the numerous Bills and motions put forward by Hon. Victor Omofaiye, he also carried out various empowerment programs and provision of infrastructural facilities to various communities.
Hon. Victor Adewale Omofaiye’s Humanitarian and philantrophic gesture has earned him a couple of awards both within and outside Kogi State.
They include; Nigeria Humanitarian Icon Award by an Abuja based Media Organization, Nigerian Best Christian Legislator of the year, award of Excellence by National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ijumu Local Government Chapter, Award of Excellence by Child’s Dream.
His distinguished contributions to humanity also earned him Award from National Association of Okun Students, Ijumu Development Union, (IDU) Ijumu Students Union, Kogi State University Chapter and Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association as well as reputable Media Organizations.
Hon. Victor Adewale Omofaiye is also a Recipient of Chieftancy title of the Alara of Ogidi Kingdom, the Atunluse of Iyara Land and Olugbayi of Ekinrin Adde Land.
In 2019, Chief Ade Omofaiye was appointed Director General Of Alhaji Yahaya Bello/ Edward David Onoja reelection campaign in Ijumu Local Government which he performed excellently.
Following the tremendous and remarkable achievements of this young man, he was appointed as the Kogi State Commissioner of Environment, a position he is occupto till date.
He is happily married with lovely children
