By Sunday Ajayi – Lokoja
A group under the ages of Ikowaopa Progressive Movement (IPM) has commended Governor Yahaya Bello on the proposed establishment of a state owned University in Okunland, stressing that it is a step in the right direction owning to the fact that having such institution in Okunland has been a long aged desire of the people whose main trade is education.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the group Coordinator, Hon. Paul Aiyepeku and made available to newsmen in Lokoja.
According to him, the project is long overdue and it is a dream come true considering the way the people have struggled over the years to have a university in the area as this singular action of the governor will go a long way to not only ease admission challenges but it will put the area on the global map of academia.

The group said that the government need not to look elsewhere for the siting of the institution considering the abundant infrastructures that are available at the Kogi State College of Education Technical, Kabba hence he appealed to the committee to approve the facility for the university while the college currently in Kabba can be moved to Mopa Technical College or any other area suitable for it in Yagba federal Constituency, as such it will be an added advantage for the institution to start on solid footing with less resources.
They charged the people of Okunland to embrace the laudable project and join hands with Governor Yahaya Bello to make it a reality, hence it will stimulate the economic activities of the entire zone when the university finally takes off.
