Kogi Gov’ship Race: After Losing 4th Term Senatorial Ticket, Senator Adeyemi Lacks The Moral Justification to Call for “Zoning Of Kogi Governorship Seat” He Does Not Only Owe Gov Bello Apologies, He Is Not A Man Of His Words- Abraham Jacob

As the political atmosphere for Kogi governorship election gets heated and the date for the primary election of the All Progressive Congress draws nearer, Jacob Abraham Damilare, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State has described the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi, as one who is not worthy to agitate for zoning of the governorship seat in the state.

According to Abraham Jacob, Where was Senator Adeyemi’s conscience that is today seeking for equity, fairness and justice when he against all odds, contested the Kogi West Senatorial Seat for the forth time and lost at the APC’s primary to Senator-Elect Steven Karimi who hails from Yagba Federal Constituency despite the “Yagba For Senate” Clamour in the last 20 years?

One would think that Senator Smart is after the general welfare of the people of Kogi West but unknown to many that he is only after his pecuniary gain and careless about the impulse of the people, if truly equity, fairness and justice were his watchwords, he wouldn’t have gone contrary to the system that stepped on toes on his behalf to ensure he returned as a third term senator even against the will of the people and when same system told him to relinquish power to the people of Yagba federal constituency by not contesting for the forth term, he suddenly found the system to be an enemy without a second thought. Such a man should lacks the moral ground to call for the zoning of the Kogi APC’s gubernatorial ticket to a particular zone simply because he is also in the race for same seat.

As a student of political history, to say that Senator Adeyemi has lost his grip in the call is never a misplacement because as a gubernatorial aspirant who believes he is the most qualified to clinch the party’s ticket and as a democrat that he is, he should not express any signs of fear or lobby for favouritism of any sort but rather hold a firm believe in his ability to enjoy the support of the delegates on the deal date for the primary election. He is expected to hold onto the believe of “Let the best aspirant and delegates’ choice win”.

Abraham Jacob further noted that Senator Smart owes Governor Yahaya Bello apology for his utterances at the national television while granting interview session with Channels tv’s Seun Okinbaloye.

“To the best of our knowledge, Governor Yahaya Bello has been of immeasurable source of political revival and survival for Senator Smart Adeyemi but it is quite unfortunate to see today that the same Senator Smart Adeyemi who knelt down in public to whisper to Governor Yahaya Bello is the same man who now sees Governor Bello as inconsequential just because Governor Bello stood by his words of ensuring that equity and fairness is given to the people of Yagba federal constituency by allowing the party’s senatorial ticket to go to Yagba which has produced Senator-Elect Steven Karimi against the 4th term bid of Senator Smart Adeyemi. We are student of history and we all can see clearer.

One will recall that Senator Smart who openly declared that he will never go contrary to the political biddings of Governor Yahaya Bello, is as at today, glaringly refusing to honour his own words again. This alone leaves everyone to believe that he is not a man of his words.

Instead of doing everything humanly possible to frustrate the sincere and genuine efforts of Governor Yahaya Bello and the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State ahead of the gubernatorial primary election, I would advise that Senator Smart as well as other gubernatorial aspirants should show capacity at the primary poll and allow the best aspirant to emerge rather than hiding underneath a “Zoning Agenda “.

One of the things Senator Smart used in campaigning to Yagba people for his third term bid was to see to the completion of the Kabba-Ilorin road and to also ensure that immediately his third term tenure elapses, he would willing support and hand over senate barton to a Yagba man. None of these did he actualise. Rather, he went to the primary poll for the forth time and was defeated convincingly. The Kabba to Ilorin road keeps getting worse as the day passes by. May Senator Smart’s conscience judge him if truly he has any.

And today, you see same man on the national television clamouring for power shift to a particular senatorial district when ordinarily he should be gunning for the best aspirant to emerge as candidate of the All Progressive Congress. He lacks the moral justification to sue for such a call.
