Ijumu Constituency Assembly Poll: APC’s Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya Floors PDP, ADC To Win Assembly Seat
History was made on Saturday as the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the All Progressives Party, APC, candidate , Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya as the winner of Ijumu State House of Assembly election.
Adeleye-Ishaya is the first Elected female Assembly member from the Constituency.
Declaring the result, the Local Government Electoral Officer, Mrs Grace Abalaka Haruna at the end of the collation exercise at the INEC office, Iyara said the APC candidate having scored the valid votes of 8568, ahead of the African Democratic Party’s Candidate who got 3899 and the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate who scored 2648 emerged winner of the election.
Reacting to the victory, the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taofiq Isah described it as victory for democracy.
He commended INEC for the transparency displayed as well as the voters for supporting the APC candidate to emerge victorious.
Also speaking, the Kogi State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Victor Omofaiye described the outcome as what APC stands for in Ijumu Local Government Area.
He congratulated the winner, the party and all stakeholders for working tirelessly to ensure the victory of Omotayo Adeleye Ishaya.
