OKUN WOMEN DAY 2022: MUKADAM ASIWAJU ASIRU IDRIS,FCA BAGS OKUN MAN OF HONOUR OF THE YEAR AWARD

Okun Ladies Association(OLA), an umbrella body of Okun Women Worldwide held her annual event, OKUN WOMEN  DAY 2022 under the leadership of Chief (Mrs) Josephine Iyabo Medupin at Reverton Hotel, Lokoja, today, 29th September, 2022.

The theme of this year’s event is tagged; “Okun Women And The 2023 General Elections, Time To Be Counted” and the Launching Of Appeal Fund For The Completion Of The Okun Ladies Association (OLA) Skills Acquisition Centre in Kabba.

While giving her welcome address, the President of the Association Chief(Mrs) Josephine Medupin highlighted the core mission of the Women body, which includes Serving as a formidable Association that will compliment the effort of the men folks, Okun Elders Forum in charting a progressive front for Okun Nation, to project the common good of Okun People in all facet of life, Help advance the course and struggle of women in the society  and to help Foster Love and Unity amongst all Okun sons and daughters worldwide.

The auspicious event of was a double honour for Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris,FCA as he was bestowed with an Award as Okun man of Honour for the year 2022 and also an investiture as the PATRON of Okun women Association(OLA).

During the presentation of the award and investiture as Patron of OLA, the spokesperson of the Association said the Honourable Commissioner is deserving of the award and his investiture as  Patron of the Association premised on his verifiable track record of people oriented leadership style, which is devoid of bias and primordial sentiments of any sort, saying as a public servant, he has upheld very tight the ethos of honour and Omooluwabi character by surmounting the untoward tendencies that comes with power and luxury of public offices. 

In her words” Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA has shown to be Honourable, Responsible and Responsive,  both in Office and without. Most importantly, he’s a refined politician that gives Women a pride of place in his activities just like his Principal, Governor Yahaya Bello who is a frontier of He4She initiative and a strong voice against women Marginalisation.

While delivering his remark as an Award recipient and Patron of the Association, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris,FCA expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Association for finding him worthy of these prestigious honour as an Awardee and  Patron, saying I won’t betray the trust and confidence reposed on me.

Asiwaju appreciates OLA members for the support so far to the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello and seeks more support to the government  in the areas of instilling moral values in the upbringing of Kogi children and Economic Empowerment of women.

He promised OLA  of government extension of hands in the area of advancing women economically, states that there is a special program designed purely for women empowerment. He advised that okun women should  register their association in each of the local government for easy access to the funds.

In his words ” For all the encomiums and words of commendation, i owe it all to God Almighty the giver of life and all good things and His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello for the opportunity to serve and learn under his progressive, purposeful and Women advancement leadership. His Excellency, no doubt, leads in the league of leaders that has engendered good governance to the people and also places the engagement of women in critical leadership positions at the front burner which is verifiable in Kogi State.

Asiwaju dedicated the award to His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello and All women in Kogi state.
