All you need to know about St Felix Abioye Oloruntoba
Felix Abioye Oloruntoba was born to the family of late Pa Ogedengbe & Madam Mogbami Oloruntoba. (Obaopo of Oweland) on 7th of August 1942 in Kabba. He was the last of five children. He had his primary education at St Mary’s primary school Kabba from 1957 – 1963.
His mom and dad did everything possible to take good care of him, and they did take care of him from an early age until he moved out to join the Army.
Felix Abioye Oloruntoba joined the Nigerian Army on 26th of August 1968. His first deployment was to Kaduna state, and he would often visit Kabba to look after his father and siblings. It was on one of such visits that he met his would-be wife, Abosede Esther Eyanro. And within a short period, he made his intention known to her. They courted for almost a year and got married in 1972. Their union was blessed with five children.
Between 1972 & 89 St Felix was deployed to different states within the country under the Nigerian Army. He served in Kaduna, Katsina, Keffi, Zaria and Lagos before he was deployed to 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Barracks, Ilorin, Kwara State. He retired from active service on the 31st of August 1989 and later relocated to Kabba.
Before his death Set Felix worked at the former SP Secretariat Asaya and Kabba Community Bank as the Chief Security officer respectively.
He was a devoted Catholic and a member of St Patrick’s society
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kabba.
To his Children, he was an available father. He was also a strict disciplinarian, never failing to discipline them. To his wife, he was a backbone and moral support. Even though, like every human, he laced on occasions, he always ensured he settled any differences they had in due time. In his later years, he took on farming and he would feed his family and friends from his farm produce especially, yam and corn.
Baba was a good husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many, before God said it was time. Even though we are saddened by losing you, we take solace in the Word of God which says: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even if he dies” – John 11:25. And we believe that you are living and resting at the bosom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by wife, children and grandchildren, may his gentle soul rest in peace.
