Why Yagba East Deserves Kogi West Senatorial District Seat – Group

The Yagba Renaissance Group has said it is only logical and fair to allow Yagba East LGA take the Kogi West Senatorial seat in 2023. The Group in a statement said going to twenty four years since the current nascent democracy in the 4th republic, Yagba East remains the only Local Government Area in Kogi West that has not tested the Senatorial seat out of the seven LGAs that made up the Senatorial District. The group explained that if democracy is about equity, justice and fairness, said available statistics point to the fact that democracy has been defeated in Kogi West if reparation is not done. The group in a document in circulation on why Yagba East LGA deserves the Kogi West Senatorial District seat said: Sen. Justus Olubode Olu represented the District between 1979 and 1983. Sen. Sunday Awoniyi from Mopamuro LGA represented the District between 1992 and 1993. Sen. Smart Adeyemi from Ijumu LGA represented the District from 2007 – 2015 and 2019 -2023 Sen. Dino Melaye from Ijumu LGA represented from 2015 – 2019 Sen. Joseph Funsho Obasaju from Kabba Bunu represented the District in 1983 Sen. Ado Shaibu represented Kogi LGA in 1998 Sen. Tunde Ogbeha from Lokoja Lokoja LGA represented the District between 1999 to 2007. The group therefore calls on all the Political stakeholders in the State, Particularly in the ruling APC to allow equity, justice, and fairness to prevail. The group made a passionate appeal to the Kogi State APC Chairman, Alh. Abdullahi Bello and the leader of the Party, Gov. Yahaya Bello to look into the marginalization of the people of Yagba East
