National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Conferred HUMANITARIAN SERVICE AWARD on Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji

The atmosphere in Dr. Adoji’s country home in Anyigba was charged with nostalgic reminiscence as over 150 students besieged the mansion chanting aluta solidarity songs, gyration and renditions in honour of one of their own, Dr. Adoji.

The students body which was led by the National Assistant Secretary General Comrade Omede Sunday, read and presented the letter of the National Award from Comrade Asefon Sunday Dayo- The Revolutionary NANS President. That Dr. Adoji’s conferment was as a “result of his antecedents as leader of Students Union Government (SUG) at the University of Jos, and for his numerous humanitarian services to his immediate community and the country at large”.

We’ll recall that Dr. Adoji’s life has been that of service to humanity. Even as a fresh University graduate he came back Igala land to render free teaching services to students who were preparing for their WAEC and other national examinations. Even as an accomplished professional, Dr. Adoji’s passion for  educational progress of his people has not diminished as he continues to sponsor hundreds of students in and outside Kogi East from primary to PhD level in schools in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

And in appreciation of Dr. Adoji’s scholarstic prowess he was granted partnership with the University of Tourism, Teachnology and Business Republic of Rwanda, recently to present 10 students to study in the university on scholarship.

Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji who could not conceal his joy profusely thanked the student’s body for the honour and recognition given to him. Dr. Adoji took the students through memory lane and stated that the award is a compensation for all those times that he had to withstand the school authorities because of the welfare of students, and was arrested countless times by the police. 

He adviced the students not be carried away by activism to the detriment of their studies. That activism should even propel them to be better students.

Yes, Dr. Adoji can categorically say this because himself being an activist and students Union leader has done so well for himself educationally. Inshort, his academic success is some sort of propitiation for every vice attributed to students. He can be seen as a typical example of what is good, noble, worthy of praise and emulation about Nigerian students. Within the span of 50 years of age, Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji already has 10 Masters Degree, and 3 PhDs and with the desire to get more.

No wonder the students vowed to use the over 300,000 of their population to canvass, mobilise, Support, and ensure Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji is voted to represent the good people of Kogi East at the Senate in 2023!
