PRESS RELEASE.
LAGOS STATE CHAPTER OF COMMITTEE OF YOUTHS ON MOBILIZATION AND SENSITIZATION(CYMS) CONDEMNS THE GRUESOME MURDER OF A SENIOR POLICE OFFICER,CSP KAZEEM ABONDE.
The security of lives and properties still remains the statutory obligation of the Nigerian Police Force,(N.P.F) and should not be undermined by any individual or group.
These were the words of the Lagos State Coordinator of Committee of Youths on Mobilization and Sensitization, (C.Y.M.S), Comrade Leo Obasi as contained in a statement made available to the press at the CYMS State Secretariate situated at lkeja on the unwarranted and gruesome murder of a senior Police officer attached in the Operations department of the force, Chief Superintendent of Police,(CSP) Kazeem S. ABONDE.
CSP Abonde whose untimely death occurred on the 23rd of September,2021 at Ajao Estate, Lagos State had served the force for over Thirty Four(34) years and billed to retire in Six(6) Months in a celebrated manner as a worthy and deligent officer.
CSP Kazeem was a Divisional Police Officer,(DPO)at Ajangbadi Division where he left delible marks to emulate.
CSP Abonde was a Lawyer preparing to return to his Law Chamber after a successful retirement from the force.
Comrade Obasi revealed that,CSP Abonde led a combined team of Task Force,RRS and other tactical team to identified flashpoints of hoodlums’ hideouts around Ajao Estate to enforce the ban on commercial Motorcycles in restricted areas which were part of the statutory obligations of the Nigerian Police Force.
Furthermore,he disclosed the operations of the Nigerian Police Force in the area as successful following several arrests that were made but was down emotionally on the siege laid on Men of the Nigerian Police Personel at the exit of the Estate which amounted to the death of CSP Kazeem and described the attack as wicked,malicious and uncalled for.He charged the force to constitutionally prosecute any one found wanting of the devilish act.
He noted that, similar exercise had been carried out in some parts of the State which had drastically reduced the activities of the armed robbery attacks in those areas.
The force would certainly miss CSP Abonde and the entire State as well as Nigeria at large.
We pray for God’s consolation to everyone affected by the sudden death of CSP Abonde.
The deceased body had since been deposited in Yaba Hospital for autopsy.
