Insecurity: CGC Harps on Synergy Among Sister Agencies – GBAMSBLOG
The Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (RTD) has emphasised the need for collaboration amongst security agencies towards combating security threats facing Nigeria.
The CGC was represented at the event by Assistant Comptroller General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi.
The event which took place at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, Plateau State is a strategic convergence of security experts aimed at proffering solutions to the Insecurity threats bedevling Nigeria.
ACG Adeniyi delivered a keynote address on behalf of the CGC with the title “Nigeria’s Security and Law Enforcement Agencies and the Challenges of Policy and Program Implementation: The Nigeria Customs Perspective”.
He highlighted the numerous efforts made by the Nigeria Customs Service towards combating security threats in the country while speaking to the 43 participants of the Senior Executive Course.
He said “To contend with the numerous border and national security challenges in the country, especially with the rising tide in terrorist activities and bandits across the country. Customs has been making tremendous efforts to reposition the policy implementation nomenclature for enhanced operational efficiency”.
“Despite the commitment of Customs towards bringing about peace and security, the emergent security threats are still potent enough and needs additional strategies to mitigate” he added.
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Audi, was also a guest lecturer and he also keyed into the importance of synergy in these times.
“Nigeria is facing asymmetric war, which is a very serious conflict and if asymmetric war has dealt with other countries and held them for one or two decades, Nigeria is not an exception and the only way is to face this head on” he stated.
At end of the conversation, sister security agencies agreed that they need to work together for peace to reign in the country.
